Hellboy II

Saw this awhile ago, action packed, lacking the dramedy that made the first so appealing (with a couple important cast members missing), worth watching, sneaks in at 3 stars.

In other news:

In case that last post wasn’t a sign, I’m cutting back on my meat consumption again, I’ve been mostly vegetarian before, though I don’t generally call myself vegetarian, since I’ll eat meat given the proper circumstances, I’m hardly a vegetarian. So, much like last time, I’m doing it mostly for my brain, which is to say for the animals, so I don’t feel sad and guilty, since I hate feeling guilty.  Though the other benefits will be many, weight loss, less nasties (hormones), and probably even cheaper :-)

Facebook has recently peaked my interest, a lot of nice features, including it being all linked up to my cell phone, for photo uploads, and msg responses, I like that, it has totally pulled into the lead over myspace. American Gladiators continues to be the best thing on tv, till 30 Rock comes back, and I’ve still only seen The Dark Knight once, which makes baby unicorns cry… Finished Dead Like Me, what a wonderful show, 5 stars, recommended to everyone.

Next on the list is the Mummy movies again, for old time’s sake, and of course preparation for Mummy 3, long live Brendan Fraser, whom gets all of my respect to this day for his role in Blast from the Past, damn that movie is GOOD!

Sweeny Todd - I think most people who are going to be watching this know what they are getting into.  It’s a gory musical, and it’s Johnny Deep singing. My review: Story brings no surprises, excellent performances, great cast, dark and twisted, and I liked it, 3 out of 5.

Forgetting Sara Marshal – Fast passed adult comedy, male nudity, Dracula singing, what’s not to like? Very funny, crude and constantly entertaining, 4 of 5.

Wanted – I had high hopes, and was still surprised and entertained.  Borrows a lot from other films, very matrix’y, but with the story set in something closer to reality.  Awesome action, awesome story, a few gimmicky moments, some super sweet originality here and there, 4 out of 5.

Into the Wild – I’ll admit, I thought I had this movie pegged going into it, after all I knew how it ended, I had read about the story in the news years before.  However, by the end of the film, I was a different person, and that’s my favorite sort of movie, I say stop what you are doing and go watch it :-P Nudity, check, violence, moderate (you can handle it), cast?  Emile Hirsch is my freaking HERO! Keep it up dood, your movies are filling up my top 10, plus, William Hurt, Vince Vaughn, Jena Malone and directed by Sean Penn, oh, plus awesome music, 5 out of 5, bingo bango quality movie time.

I started watching Dead Like Me, a TV series that ran in 2003 and 2004 on Showtime, and I must say I’m thoroughly impressed.  I love the characters, the main character George (a girl) and her “boss” Rube being my favorite part of the show (I hear there is a straight to DVD movie in the works, minus Rube, which is happy and sad…). While keeping in mind this show only ran for 29 episodes, so in all likelihood it ends abrubtly (hopefully the movies will resolve that a bit), I still highly recommend it to anyone looking for a smart, dark, thoughtful dramedy. I’m 6ish episodes in, and it’s taking all of my self control to not pay 1.99 per episode and watch the other 23… ughhhh.

In other entertainment news, I saw You Don’t Mess with the Zohan over the weekend. It was certainly the most crude PG-13 movie I’ve seen, which of course means I’d highly recommend it, you cannot prepare yourself for the randomness this movie will toss at you, but if it isn’t awesome and hilarious, it’ll be disturbing and hilarious. I give it two thumbs up, way up. Not for children, not for normal people, no no no no no no no no no no no, no no no no no no no, silky smooth, disco disco.

Oh yeah, best weekend ever, hung out with a good friend, experienced the warmness (hot hot weather) Utah has to offer at the Gateway (outdoor mall), I totally didn’t do the flikr thing, I have two pictures of that day, both taken with my phone, one you have seen of the TV, the other of cars on the freeway, next month :-) and RIP George Carlin not that I knew much about you, but you seemed like a nice guy.

Mugshot taken of George Carlin, taken following his arrest for public indecency. Dang, he was a rock star!

And that concludes Monday, g’night.

So my new mattress is treating me well, I love the consistency of the foam, as opposed to a standard mattress where some places are a bit firmer than others, on this mattress, I can roll to wherever I like, and it’s always the same soggy goodness.

The weekend is here, it’s going to be a good one I think :-) Oh! I’m supposed to take 5 photos for flickr tomorrow, I just remembered that! I joined this group (flickr group) where they set 1 day each month to take pictures (up to five), by the end of the day, there’s this massive collection of photos from all around the world.  This month it’s the 21st, which is RIGHT NOW! I’ll have to make sure the date and time are set up correctly on my camera, since I don’t want to mess up my first chance at submitting to the pool.

Anyway, off to bed, g’night. Happy weekend.

Hulk = As bad as the first hulk, which puts it in with the worst super hero movies ever!  The worst part about the hulk was instead of him being a hero, he was a mass murderer.  The best part of the hulk was the new trailer for Hancock, dang that looks RAD!

The Happening = nobody should ever, ever watch this film.  The worst part was the dialog, and the story, and the acting, and the plot, and I’m sure I’m forgetting other worst parts, like all the time between when the movie started and when it ended.  The best part was Zooey Deschanel’s face, that or her eyes, or maybe just her entire body :-P

At least TV is still good, Battlestar was awesome this week though, wasn’t it?! Your answer being YES!

But oh so much rest for me! I’ll see you, and you, and hopefully you (with the side pony tail), in dreamland, it’s an extended trip tonight, not that travel takes much time in dreamland. Speaking of dream land, I skipped it last night, but then took a power nap at some point this evening, which is the only reason I’m able to type this.

When I wake later today (saturday), I hope to make it to the movies, Hulk and The Happening (it’d be funny if that was one movie title), I’m expecting very, very bad things and yet hoping for greatness from both of these films.

Umm… yep, laundrys on the list for this weekend, and the Spore’s (the video game) creature editor is only days away, my bed frame is quite a few weeks out, but my mattress should arrive on monday, and I’d say that’s the most important part of a bed, so I’m glad it’s showing up first.  With those two things to look forward to next week, I’d glady wish this weekend away, but since I never seem to have any spare wishes, I think I’ll just sleep it away instead, who’s up for a slumber party? ;-P

g’night, g’dreams

Woah, how’d it get so late? I should probably go home! Also, I’m going to stop shopping at walmart, not a super ban, but just if I can avoid it. I had a terrible walmart experience today, which in short left my “self” checkout lane temporarily broken. I was 90% done scanning my items, I waited about 2 minutes, then just left it all there, hopefully somebody got that milk back to the fridge :-|

That’s walmart’s big short coming (here anyway) they just never have enough registers open, and the ones that are open, don’t work. I’ll take my money and time elsewhere in the future.

On a happy note, Thai dinner was awesome, and I was on time to work today! AND, there are now comments on this blog, thanks to Disqus.com, and the new theme, thanks to Paul Giacherio.

I caught myself wondering if I’ll still have a blog in 20 or so years, when I have a kid. Will I write a blog entry after I give him ‘the talk’ about sex?

“Gave the boy a sex talk today. It ROCKED! I nailed it.” (illustration of what happened)

Will he write one too?

“Dad gave me the sex talk today… what a loser. I’m having unprotected, future sex tonight. He sucks at drawing too. Ughhh.”

Will the internet evolve to account for this? Will it not, and force the two of us to know what the other is thinking? Will this benefit society? Will it hurt society?

hahaha, awesome, very very funny!
