"The sounds come from the high voltage sparks which are created by the coil. They use a digital switch to modulate the coil to a frequency you can hear. the coils resonate at a frequency of 135khz, well out of the range of human hearing. so, they switch the coil on and off, at different rates to make the coil “sing” in a range that you can hear."
